The Importance of Detox & Drainage
- Kate and Amanda
Why Should we detox?
We are constantly surrounded by toxins, chemicals, and parasites in many places throughout our environment.
They are in our food, clothing, furniture, beauty care products, cleaning products, in our drinking water, the air we breath, and more!
Here are some pretty shocking stats for you:
There are currently 80,000 chemicals currently used in the US that haven’t been adequately tested.

Scientists believe the typical human has close to 500 chemicals in various parts of their body, mostly in fatty tissue. Many chemicals are broken down in our bodies and are eliminated, but others can linger in our bodies for a lifetime and can increase the risk of certain diseases such as cancer and Parkinson’s. https://www.beyondpesticides.org/resources/pesticide-induced-diseases-database/body-burde
Holy crap, right??
So, what kind of impact can this have on our bodies? When the body is dealing with high amounts of toxins to try to clean up regularly, it can lead to symptoms such as:
- Feeling tired or sluggish
- Headaches
- Sinus issues
- Achiness pain around the liver
- Skin issues, rashes, eczema, itchiness, acne
This is an interesting conversation for may people, because it’s not often talked about that symptoms like these could actually be linked back to toxins! But… every symptom has a cause. Symptoms are really just your body’s way of trying to communicate with you the something’s wrong and needs your support.
This is why detoxing can be a helpful tool because if the toxic burden has been weighing on the system for many years, it may need your support to clean things up!
If you decide a detox is something you’d like to try, we can help. It’s important to make sure your unique body is in a place where it’s able to handle a detox, and that your drainage pathways are open and ready to go. If this is NOT the case, this can lead to unnecessary issues.
If you think of the body’s “drainage pathways” in comparison to the pipes in your home… if there’s a clog in the pipe, things are going to back up and spill over in places they shouldn’t. Well, your drainage pathways are similar! If you’re not pooping everyday (the bowel is the main drainage pathway) the body will be forced to push toxins out in other ways. Like your skin!
There are some symptoms that you can have when detoxing though that actually aren’t a bad sign… you could feel:
- Pain in the joints,
- Discomfort in the back if it’s related to the kidneys
- Different pooping habits
- Different pooping smells
- Headaches
- Fatigue
discomfort could be related to parasites or something else and this is why we test to know how is best to support the body.
Although these symptoms are not always pleasant but they are temporary!! They are all great signs that your body is moving out toxins. Sometimes in order to get to a healthier place there can be some discomfort.
Another thing to consider when cleaning up the body is the gut, what is our gut health like? Is our gut lining intact? If not this is where we could experience leaky gut. This is where toxins can sneak into our system through openings in the gut lining and into our bloodstream causing problems such as:
- gastrointestinal issues like bloating, abdominal pain,
- food sensitivities, inflammation, joint pain, brain fog, allergies
This can be caused by parasites, toxins, antibiotics.
Antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria which destroys our gut flora – basically puts the gut bacteria out of balance and it takes up to 7 years to repair!! There is a time and place for antibiotics but keep in mind it only kills bacteria but not viruses or anything else. There are natural antibacterial options like coconut oil and garlic that could be used instead.
This is why’s it’s so important to do as much as we can to support and keep our bodies healthy. Eat whole foods, reduce sugar and processed foods, regular exercise, drink clean water, and keep using antibiotics to a minimum.
So what we want to do is support the body by cleaning it up, removing toxins, fixing the holes in the gut, restoring the good gut flora and this will help clear up the symptoms you have been experiencing.
As I’ve already mentioned, we are surrounded by toxins, chemicals, and parasites in our everyday environments, and when they become too much for the body to handle on it’s own, they can wreak havoc on your health!
