Do You Poop Every Day? WHY You Should…

Do you poop every day? Did you know that you should?

Poop is a taboo conversation, I know… but it’s such an important one when it comes to your heath.

The bowels are the bottom part of the body’s drainage funnel, and when they aren’t functioning properly, other things get backed up as well! When this happens, the body isn’t able to clear toxins like chemicals, heavy metals, excess hormones, parasites and more.

Excess toxins in the body can lead to a multitude of other health concerns as well. The body needs to find something else to do with them, which can mean:

  • Forcing them out through your skin in the form of acne, psoriasis, or eczema
  • It can store them in your fat cells to protect other parts of the body
  • Or they can end up in other organs, glands and tissues which can lead to inflammation, pain, or other problems

 

Excess hormones in the body creates an imbalance, which is typically high estrogen, or estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance affects women, AND men! Symptoms of estrogen dominance are things like:

  • weight gain
  • period changes, including heavy/painful periods
  • worsening PMS
  • Bloating
  • mood swings
  • fatigue

 

In men, estrogen dominance can also cause:

  • decreased testosterone
  • muscle loss
  • inability to grow hair
  • increased breast tissue

 

While most of what I’ve talking about so far refers to insufficient bowel movements, which is also often tied to constipation, stools that are too loose or frequent isn’t ideal either. When food doesn’t spend enough time in your system, the body is not going to be able to absorb all of the beneficial nutrients it needs.

There are some things you can try that may be helpful, like for constipation to aim for the minimum of 1 bowel movement daily such as:

1. Make sure you’re drinking 2-3 litres of clean water
2. Add foods high in soluble and insoluble fibre like potatoes & apples
3. Avoid dairy, sugar & caffeine and limit processed foods
4. Move your body regularly though-out the day
